Institute for Ecological Research (IPÊ)
IPÊ – Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas, is a not-for-profit organization that works for biodiversity conservation through projects in six Brazilian ecosystems. IPÊ uses science as a practical tool for conservation strategies, which include environmental education and sustainable business programs designed to involve local residents and better their quality of life. Our researchers are trained in an interdisciplinary environment where scientific information nurtures sustainable social initiatives. We also voice our scientific results on pertinent public policy issues. IPÊ’s work focuses on many species including black lion tamarin monkeys, jaguars, lowland tapirs and manatees.

Ing. Alida Madero M.Sc. serves as coordinator for Wildlife Trust's Conservation Education Program, "Jóvenes Aventureros," is member of the Academic
Council for the Conservation and Sustainable Development Chair "Andres Marcelo Sada" at Monterrey Tech, where she teaches.
She is an instructor for "Amigos de la Naturaleza" and "FOMCEC" programs at Monterrey Tech and co-edits "Natural+mente"
- a conservation education newsletter for children. Her projects include the implementation of wildlife habitat gardens.
Dr. Hector Zepeda Lopez is the Director of the Veterinary Microbiology Laboratory and Professor in Virology and Veterinary Microbiology at the National School of Biological Sciences, Mexico City. Dr. Zepeda now heads the first Biosafety Level 3 Conservation Medicine Diagnostic and Reference Lab in Mexico City.

Dr. Patricia Moehlman is an internationally recognized conservation leader who has pioneered many important Afican conservation causes. She is the Chair of the IUCN/SSC Equid Specialist Group. She is well known for her work on jackals and is currently doing conservation work and research on the critically endangered African Wild Ass and other rare wild equids.
URUGUAY
Dr. Susana Gonzalez is a professor of cytogenetics at the Clemente Estable Institute of Biological Research in Montevideo, Uruguay and the head of the IUCN/SSC Deer Specialist Group. An authority on the Pampas deer, she is currently focused on the biology, genetics, and conservation medicine of South American cervids.

Yolanda Kakabadse is the president of Futuro Latinoamericano, an organization dedicated to the resolution of conflicts over natural resource use and conservation. She is the former Minister of the Environment for Ecuador and president of the IUCN, the World Conservation Union.
