Elizabeth Walker

Elizabeth Walker has her BS in Biology and Environmental Science from Western Michigan University. Elizabeth has spent most of her career informally teaching conservation biology to middle school and high school students. She has completed on-site programs in Egmont Key focusing on barrier island and estuary ecology, Myakka State Park investigating canopy research, and the importance of Florida’s watershed systems.
While attending WMU, Elizabeth researched Florida manatee mortality and fecundity and completed an internship in Lake Sandoval, Peru studying the habitat uses and needs of the endangered Giant Otter. Other research included the distribution of cricket abundance among new growth grass fields in western Michigan, plant cell and tissue growth in greenhouses, and sustainable city planning and development. Elizabeth plans to pursue a Masters degree and ultimately her Ph.D. in biology.
A recent addition to the Wildlife Trust Aquatic Conservation team, as a program assistant Elizabeth will track rehabilitated manatees within the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP). She will follow the progress of recently released manatees as they re-assimilate into the wild manatee population.
