WILDLIFE TRUST
CONSERVATION MEDICINE PROGRAM

The extinction of species across the globe is accelerating, directly or indirectly due to human activities. Fractured habitats, climate change, lack of biodiversity and rapid global movement of people and animals have worked synergistically to diminish ecosystem functions.

The result—unprecedented levels of disease, driven by human-induced environmental change—is currently one of the most important threats to the survival and health of all species.

Wildlife Trust is a pioneer in the new field of Conservation Medicine, a discipline that examines the links between the health of ecosystems, wildlife and humans.

Wildlife Trust’s Conservation Medicine program works to protect the health of all species, preserve biodiversity and predict the emergence of deadly infectious diseases.
